In the winter you would open the door to let her out, she would lift her paw, shake and go back in the house.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07743102355360873845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-82819109485929844292010-01-08T08:46:51.773-08:002010-01-08T08:46:51.773-08:00Bangchik, those are some big bean plants! I would love to try some, if only for the blue blossoms, but not this season, as every square inch of climbing space is spoken for. The only place I'd have to grow those would be along the west side of my patio, but I'd have to devise some type of trellis and a water source. They'd certainly make a good privacy screen, so I wouldn't have to look at the neighbor's fence!Annie*s Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04772261218172078099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-16460074460979911402010-01-08T08:40:37.120-08:002010-01-08T08:40:37.120-08:00Stefaneener, my dogs do have a close relationship ...Stefaneener, my dogs do have a close relationship with green beans...they love to eat them! Cooked or raw. They always accompany me to the garden when I pick beans (or pull carrots), as they delight in eating them fresh. Annie has, on occasion, pulled her own carrot to eat.Annie*s Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04772261218172078099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-47445731468851336692010-01-08T07:29:23.717-08:002010-01-08T07:29:23.717-08:00A creative solution... now plants can climb. In fact, I just put in my order for my spring snap peas and shelling peas, and went with bush varieties.

********
Kitsap, possessed fencing. Great. I'm picturing hanging charentais melons wrapped in nylons. :) I'm sure it does a great job of keeping the neighborhood critters out.Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09303344546714641616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-46235301350552902362010-01-07T15:39:05.128-08:002010-01-07T15:39:05.128-08:00Daphne, I've always used twine for my pole bea...Daphne, I've always used twine for my pole beans, so I was a bit surprised they wouldn't climb on the fencing. Lesson learned. None of my peas took to the fences well, even the snap peas had to be corralled with heavy twine to keep them up against the wires.Annie*s Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04772261218172078099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-28277664242283733262010-01-07T15:36:01.410-08:002010-01-07T15:36:01.410-08:00Erin, you could let the kids and dogs run loose an...Erin, you could let the kids and dogs run loose and put the barbecue and the company in the kennel! That's probably what I'd do, LOL! We got ours on sale at Lowe's, and I'm quite sure it cost $180 (Mr. H says it was less than that). I just checked and there's nothing even close to that price now, so I guess we got a really good deal.Annie*s Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04772261218172078099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-83594590059345314582010-01-07T13:00:47.936-08:002010-01-07T13:00:47.936-08:00Pole beans do hate to wrap around things that aren...Pole beans do hate to wrap around things that aren't vertical. They love poles or twine, but if it doesn't go up they aren't fans. It is weird that the peas wouldn't attach though. I think peas will grab on to anything. Mine try to leave the trellis and climb up the dill. I have to tie them away from anything tall as they grow.Daphne Gouldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305049560953735881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5597627580631284872.post-30448663078036861102010-01-07T12:24:30.492-08:002010-01-07T12:24:30.492-08:00I think that kennel is incredibly useful! I entertain alot outside and want a place to corral the dogs so they don't bother people eating since I don't like to leave them inside while we are having fun outside! Bonus is being able to make it pretty with veggies and climbing flowers. Maybe next year, as I know they are a little "spendy" for me right now.Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06916896512933101955noreply@blogger.com
