  2. Ok, first of all...you talk funny. There, I just had to say that. Heh.

I've been waiting for you to shoot a video of your garden, but didn't expect so much at once! Anyway, I enjoyed the tour, and hope that you will do more as the season progresses.

  3. Oh Granny! It's your voice - you're real voice. Not just snickers and snorts in films of Annie or Otto.

I can't believe how much you and Toni share an accent.

Everything looks fantastic. I love how the dogs now lovingly follow you into the kennel now that they know they don't have to stay there.

  4. Thank you, Liisa.

EG, I talk normal. YOU talk funny!

What did you expect, half a garden? LOL

Ribbit, you're just as bad as EG. I don't have an accent, you and EG have an accent!

Ya, the dogs beg to go into the kennel now.

  5. Arrrggg. Video. Well it isn't the video that drives me crazy. My computer doesn't have sound. I had to pull out my netbook to hear anything.

It is so sad your beets aren't doing well. Not that I like beets at all, but I remember from last year how many you got and how you all loved them.

  6. Nice garden tour Granny! I see that Annie and Otto love the camera!

  7. I watched your first video and enjoyed part of your garden tour. I will watch the others when I have more time. Your tomatoes look like they are doing well even though the weather hasn't been too warm for you. It's nice to put a voice to you! Loved seeing Annie and Otto as well.

  8. We watched and enjoyed your garden videos this morning, your gardens look amazing and I love what you did with the kennel...great use of space and the peas will love it in there.

You are much braver than I am. I have thought about doing a talking video in my own garden but the one time I tried I found myself forgetting what everything was called...it was pretty funny really. Speaking of accents, your not from Minnesota are you?

  9. I grabbed a fresh cup of coffee and settled in for a nice tour of your garden - and enjoyed it thoroughly! It's amazing how much you have tucked in here and there throughout the property. You really make good use of containers to maximize your growing areas. Loved the clips with Annie and Otto in them... they are darling.

  11. Hi Annie! I am impressed! How many tomato plants do you have? A lot! Some of those names I've never heard before. Tomatoes in containers - I plant them every year when run out of space in the garden, but they never perform well, except cherry type. Do you have a secret how keep them happy in containers? Do you fertilize them regularly (I don't, and it might be a mistake). Your volunteer squash plants look good.I have volunteer potato plants so far. All in all, your garden has a good start. Thank you for the videos!

  12. Daphne, I'm trying to decide if I should just pull the beets and get some more carrots in there. Maybe I'll have better luck with some July planted beets. They usually do well, and a plus is that they aren't bothered by leaf miners.

    ********
Rachel, it was video overkill, but it took me that long to get through the entire garden! Remember, I'm old and don't move very fast ;-)

    ********

Robin, it's hard to get a still photo of them together, one always moves away as soon as I point the camera. I was trying to get a picture of them licking frosting beaters last night, and I dropped the camera on Otto. Now he won't come near me when I have camera in hand!

    ********
Mr. H., I forgot "shallots" when I came to them. I just could not remember what they were called, and I did want to bring attention to them because I didn't think they were going to be anything other than mush this year. They were right after the sweet pepper bed, between the single broccoli and red cabbage plants.

No, I've never even been to Minnesota. I was born and raised in Lewiston, Idaho, lived in Baker City, Oregon for several years, then moved to Walla Walla. I've lived in the Tri-Cities since 1973.

    ********
Kitsap, too bad you aren't closer so we could sip our coffee together out on that park bench in the garden.

    ********
Liisa, I think so too. I sound just like all the people on my TV. None of them sound like EG and Ribbit ;-)

    ********
Tatayana, I have 41 plants of 24 different varieties this year, including the six I planted next door. I did have 42, but the neighbor's dog ate one. All the tomatoes in the smaller (2 1/2 gallon) pots are dwarf varieties, so I'm hoping they will grow for me. The other tomatoes are in bottomless 5-gallon buckets, so their root growth isn't restricted, it just gives me more room to plant next to and between them. I fertilized them at planting time, as well as using some crushed egg shells in the planting holes, and I give them some half strength fish fertilizer every couple of weeks. When they begin fruiting, I'll probably give them full strength (if and when I remember to do it).

  13. Thanks for the beautiful tour.

The ticket price was good too.

    Best,

    Tony

  15. Your voice goes perfectly with your picture and written words. It was like I had already heard your voice in my head these many months reading your posts.

My lillies are blooming now too, but your raspberries are ahead of mine.

  16. Cheryl, the lily buds are just about to burst open. I watch them like an expectant mother! There are six of them this year, and the plants seem to love their new location (away from Annie, LOL). I expect a real show next spring, they have plenty of room to expand.

  17. Granny,
Thank you for the tour, it was lovely. I had no idea the sheer number of plants you have. :)

I must say, your tomatoes are way bigger than the ones I even purchased! *sigh* Oh well, I hope I get a least a few tomatoes!

And I think your voice sounds lovely. It sounds like the accent from back home with a touch of canadian in it, which is about what I would expect from "rural" northwest. I'm going to hear your voice in my head now every time I read your blog posts. ^_^ Also, my Corgi, Lily, felt the need to tell Annie and Otto what-for every time she heard them barking. Pretty cute little puppers, I must say!

  18. Chelsea, thank you for all the compliments :-) Tell Lily that Annie and Otto go crazy when they hear themselves barking in the videos. They bark and run all over the house looking for those strange dogs they hear!

  19. Your tomatoes look great! Still need to plant mine, tomorrow for sure. And those potatoes too, excellent. Your garden just goes on and on, very nice :-)
