Beans, pole - 7 ounces
Carrots - 3.81 pounds
Cucumbers - 1.31 pounds
Lettuce - 12 ounces
Onions - 3 ounces
Peppers, sweet - 7.25 pounds
Squash, summer - 1.63 pounds
Strawberries - 1.5 pounds
Tomatoes - 11.25 pounds
Total harvest for the week: 33.94 pounds
Total harvest for the year to date: 465.69 pounds

Wow that is a pretty cool carrot! Doesn't it make gardening fun and interesting! Looks like your garden is still doing quite well! Mine seems to be winding down! Great harvest!

Thanks, Nartaya. I'm only harvesting 2-3 days a week now, but getting quite a bit at one time. The tomatoes and squash are slow.

ReplyDeleteVanessa, it really does! My peppers are in full bloom, my tomato plants are loaded with green fruits, my cucumbers are just now beginning to get a few cukes and a lot of blossoms. It's too bad I can't extend summer into November!

Kris, not a great year compared to past years, but better than I thought it was going to be. It's definitely as much as we can use, with some to give away. Unfortunately, it was never enough to bother with canning, other than the batch of salsa and the jams.
Great harvest Gran! That carrot looks like a Buddha's Head citron.

Oh, and how are Leona's baby lemons holding up? Hopefully they'll mature this winter.

ReplyDeleteLeona has two beautiful full sized lemons, but she also has a disease. Her lower leaves have turned all yellow spotted, while the new growth looks green and healthy. I had her behind the zinnias, and I don't think she had enough air circulation. We moved her a couple of weeks ago, but she's not looking good at all. I do hope her lemons ripen for me. We'll still take her to AZ next month, then I think I'll plant her outside and just keep my fingers crossed she survives.
Rachel, we thought we had the AZ property sold, but it fell through. We have to go back down and do our fall cleanup and maintenance, and hope it sells while we're there. We've dropped the price to a break even point, we can't go lower. If it doesn't sell, we'll still be spending our winters there.

ReplyDeleteYou are raking in the beans and peppers and that mutant carrot is pretty cool looking! The rest of the carrots look pretty fine too - but the five fingered one is definitely interesting.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe it is getting time for you to pack it up and head south again. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you find a buyer while you are down there this time.
Wilderness, it was touch and go with mine this year, but we finally got the high 90s temperatures they needed. I doubt I'll get many more red ones though. They have been sweet as sugar, and I love them to add crunch to my sandwiches. I'm also in fajita heaven with all the fresh peppers and the last of the sweet onions.

Norma Chang, I don't know how much it weighed, as I weighed it with all the others. However, its "fingers" were all about 6" long. Our rabbit like it!

Wow, your carrots are gorgeous. What variety do you grow? I grow Scarlet Nantes and they look stumpy compared to your beauties. What is your secret?
ReplyDeleteMeems, I think those are either Ingot or Burpee A #1 Hybrid. My Scarlet Nantes and Red Cored Chantenay didn't do well at all, they were stubby and deformed.
