September 9, 2011 - Out of the Mouths of Babes

She looks angelic and innocent, doesn't she? After all, she's not quite three years old so just how bad could she be? She
is Granny's sweet little, Alicyn. We all know she could do no wrong.

Well, maybe just a little bit wrong.

Last year I gave her a small TV/DVD combination, so she could watch her favorite videos. Yesterday it stopped working, so her mom was fiddling around with it, trying to figure out why. Amy said there was a strangely familiar smell coming from the DVD player, so she asked Alicyn what it was. Here's Alicyn's story....................

Amy: Alicyn, what is all over your DVD player?
Alicyn: I sprayed Fubeese (Febreze).
Amy: Why would you spray Febreze inside your DVD player?
Alicyn: It stinked weally bad!
Amy: Your DVD player smelled bad?
Alicyn (completely straight faced) : Ya. I think probably a monster farted in it.

Those darn monsters are responsible for a lot of things around her house lately. Yesterday they "stole" the computer mouse, and the day before they took everything out of Mommy's purse and dumped it on the floor!

Using this statement the next time I'm questioned about anything at school.

Who can argue with that statement!! It's ingenious.

  3. LOL!! Cute! Sounds exactly like something a little one would do! Mine tried washing his leapfrog computer under water!

  4. Ribbit, she was here for a while yesterday, and fell asleep. We put her in bed with a plastic bag under her, "just in case". Good thing, because she woke up soaked to the socks. She was crying, I think embarrassed, so I threw up my hands and said "pee happens!". Amy called this morning and said Alicyn was on the toilet, and as she started to tinkle she grinned and said "pee happens!".

Remember when we worried because she couldn't/wouldn't talk? Now, when asked, she'll recite the entire first verse of The Band Perry's If I Die Young.

  7. Too cute, she's getting so tall! My kids used the dvd drive as a piggy bank, and I'm pretty sure my brothers did the same thing back when VHS was brand new LOL

  8. Erin, Alicyn's sister, Alicia, put a grilled cheese sandwich in the VHS slot when she was about that age.

Alicyn does look tall, but she's slender and never did have the baby fat. People always mistake her for being about four instead of two going on three!

  9. She's beautiful! What is it with kids and monsters? They seem to know a few firsthand.

  10. I have started doing a shutterfly book each year for us and one for my parents with photos and funny stories of things the kids said/did throughout the year. It's so much fun reading over them and remembering.

I will have to share your story with my husband tonight.

  12. My son (I mean the monsters) filled the VHS slot with pennies. Kids. I would give a thousand cookies to know what possesses them!
    But what a doll.

Mrs. Pickles, I think you have monsters in your pickle patch, and they spend all their time making baby pickles!

    ********
Sue, it's funnier when it happens at her house and not mine ;-) I had my share with my own five growing up.

    ********
Alison, the two girls in that family come up with hilarious stuff! The rest of my grandkids are just normal, boring kids.

    ********
Marrissa, welcome back to my "funny farm", LOL! Well, it's actually a "funny garden", but "farm" has a better ring to it ;-)

    ********
Lori, they sure can make life interesting!

  18. Thanks for the morning chuckle! What a character she is. :D

I think a monster has moved into my house lately. Leaves dishes in the sink when the dishwasher is empty and get's crumbs in the bed from eating cookies late at night while watching tv. Pretty sure our house monster farts as well. Guess I need a big bottle of Fubeeez!

  19. Lorie, she sure does!

  21. HA! That is priceless! Although it makes me wonder what kind of monsters she's accostomed to farting around her!? Poor kid sounds like she's been hit hard on the smell-o-meter to come up with that! ;)

  22. Kelly...but what now? LOL

APG, I think the monster's name might be "daddy" ;-)

  23. You see an angelic and innocent child. Before even reading the post I thought 'she looks possessed'.

    I rest my case.

The Brother grew up after I had left home, but he used to exploit the Mother's ardent Catholicism by always using a simple excuse; the devil made me do it!
