January 16, 2014 - Happy Sixth Birthday to Annie and Otto!

Annie and Otto:  Their 1st. Year

In April of 2008, I chose Annie and Otto from this litter, born 1/16/08.  Annie is in the front, Otto at the right rear of the photo.  I started out to buy a little girl dog, and already had her name picked out.  On my way to pick her up, Mr. Granny called me on the cell phone and said he wanted a little boy dog, and he was going to name him Otto.  So we ended up with two puppies!  We didn't know at the time that Annie's mother was also named Annie (Princess Anne) and Otto's grandfather was also named Otto!

They fit very comfortably in one small dog bed.

 Or on granddaughter Alicia's tummy.

 They played with grandson Kevin.

We called Otto "Devil Dog" when he played with Annie!  He just looked vicious, he was, and still is, a real pussycat.

Leash training didn't work out too well with them.

 They much preferred sleeping.

 And sleeping.

Annie liked helping with the dishes.

"Get that camera out of my face!"

Otto, watching football in his and Mr. Granny's man room.

 And sleeping.

Oh no, Granny.  You wouldn't make me wear this.

Does this sweater make my butt look big?

The biggest laugh they ever gave us was when Otto chewed a hole in their doggy bed and Annie came walking down the hallway wearing it like a ball gown!

"Aren't I beautiful?"   :-D

Annie's first trip down to our AZ home.  I guess the drive made her tired, because she slept.

 And slept.

But they soon got used to Arizona, and were very happy there.

Their 1st. Birthday, January 16, 2009

Annie just couldn't keep her cupcake on the napkin....

so they got sent down to the floor.

Happy birthday Annie and Otto!  You've given us six years of love, laughter and happiness.

  2. She owned that bed/dress like a BOSS!

Did you ever make a bed they couldn't chew up? Moxxie eats all the beds we make for her.

    1. Teresa, Otto has always been the chewer He started off by chewing the woodwork in my bathroom when I put the (then un-housebroken) pups in there for the night, then graduated to chewing the corner of my piano (damage visible in the Devil Dog photo). Once he got that out of his system, he started on the doggy beds and blankets. He still eats blankets. I find pieces of them all over the yard after he's pooped them out! At least he only eats his blankets, not ours.

    2. Same with Moxxie. The only thing that's funny about her chewing the dog beds to smithereens is that when you catch her mid-destruction she looks away, just slightly, and becomes a statue. Won't move until you do so we'll know it wasn't her ... even if she's got material hanging from her mouth.

    1. Well, 1st., I had my mind set on a girl puppy, and she was the only girl left. Mr. Granny had said he definitely wanted a brown one, so I stayed long enough to get familiar with the three boys. Boy #1 ran back to his mama, went upside down under her and began nursing....he was oblivious to me. It was down to #2 and #3. My daughter was with me, and she favored #2. She held him up and he just looked at me. Then she picked up #3 and he gave me such a face licking there was no doubt as to which little boy I was taking home! They were all lovely puppies. The were born in a farmhouse kitchen, and lived there, in the house, in the midst of a family who showered them with love. It shows in their temperaments. Neither Annie nor Otto has a mean bone in their bodies, although Annie tends to get a bit bossy at times, LOL! It was the first litter they (the two teenagers) had raised, and they sold them to start their college funds. It was money well spent.

  5. I'm not a dog person, but I will admit they both look pretty cute, and you obviously love them a lot, which is the main thing, so Happy Birthday, Annie and Otto!

  9. Oh look at those faces! I would have had a difficult time choosing but Annie front and center would have charmed me. Otto looks so sweet and timid which would have melted my heart as well. Happy Birthday Annie and Otto!

    1. Rachel, six years later those personalities still hold true! Annie is the smart, bossy, alpha dog and Otto is the shy, gentle little clown who sometimes acts like he's not overly bright. Case in point: Otto got a rawhide bone for Christmas. He's spent nearly a month now carrying it all around the house and trying to bury it. In the sofa, in my bed, in his bed, in all of the chairs. He has a bald spot over his nose now where he's worn the hair right off of it from trying to push that bone under things!
