October 25, 2011 - From the Library

Here I am, at the local library. It's not as handy as having access from the house, but it will have to do. My daughter has looked into getting 3G or 4G for this area, but we're out of range for the Sprint network, which is the only one that would be affordable. That one (Virgin Mobile) would have cost over $80 for the devise and $50 per month. Unless I did a 2 year contract with my carrier, ATT, that cost would be prohibitive. I definitely do not want to be paying $60+ a month for the next two years, plus over $200 for the devise! I might mention, we are in such a remote area of Arizona that we don't even have a land line internet carrier here!

This first trip to the library will be a short one, just to read your comments and get my email. There is no way I'll ever catch up on my blog reading, but I'll be setting aside a few hours each week to at least skim over them and see what all of you have been up to. And I promise to find time to blog by next week!

Thank you to my daughter Amy for publishing your comments and taking the time to call and read them to me. I appreciate it very much.

  1. Glad to hear that you were able to find some internet access! That's too bad that they want to charge you so much.I guess you could always drive around town looking for wifi that isn't blocked...lol

  2. LOL, Mrs. Pickles. This town is so tiny there are only about five people (including the library and two RV parks) that have satellite internet, which is the only other thing available. They are all password protected. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed the library can keep their WIFI up and running. Last year it was down for two months!

  5. Granny, no Internet would be like cutting off my right arm. Good grief - at least at the library you can catch up on some reading.

  6. That does it... you really must sell that place and quit going there every year. This lack of internet availability is just the final straw! LOL!

  8. It is amazing how "connected" our lives have become with technology. Not having internet must be awful. I hope the library's internet keeps working and you will be able to check in once and a while.

  9. Sorry that you have lost internet service. Did you ever think that you might check with the owner of the RV park and see if for a small fee they would give you the password for your use for a couple of months or do you know anyone living there that might share that information with you?

Hope something works out for you.

I will miss reading all about your garden , but it will be here before you know it! Enjoy your quiet time and all the good stuff you put up to eat for winter...yum....robbie:-)

  14. OK Granny, here's what you do. You get really friendly with someone at one of the RV parks and perhaps they can share the Password, or you can talk to management there and persuade them to let you know the password, say in exchange for some of your priceless gardening knowledge!!

  15. Not more internet woes. It is nice to disconnect some times though. Hopefully you can still share some of your desert adventures again this year.

Hope the library connect is up to load all my bird shots I just posted!
