*Each week Daphne's Dandelions hosts Monday Harvest. Be sure to visit her blog to see who is harvesting what this week!*
This week my harvest totals were down, because I was down......with the flu, or a cold. Whatever it is, my nose is runny, my throat is sore and my head is exploding, so not a lot of gardening, cooking or canning got done. I did, however, hit a milestone. I have now harvested more than 800 pounds from my garden!
9/8 - 10 oz. carrots, 3 pounds 7 oz. bell peppers, 15 oz. jalapeno peppers, 2 pounds 8 oz. tomatoes
9/10 - 12 pounds 5 oz. tomatoes, 1 pound 1 oz. pole beans, 1 pound, 12 oz. cucumbers, 4 oz. bell peppers, 6 oz. strawberries
9/11 - 4 pounds 13 oz. tomatoes
9/12 - 2 pounds 14 ounces tomatoes, 1 pound 7 oz. cucumbers, 2 pounds melon, 3 oz. spinach. I was worried about the melon getting too ripe, as the others have, so I picked it a bit prematurely. It wasn't as juicy and sweet as the others. So far I've only managed to pick one perfectly ripened melon.
Total for the week: 34.5 pounds
Total for the year: 809.5 pounds
9/13 - Canned 4 pints sweet bread and butter pickles, 2 pints tomato juice (and made another 6 cups that were used for soup and beverages), and 4 half-pints pineapple topping (pineapple was not from my garden, of course).
