February 14, 2011 - I'm Home!

We got back home this afternoon. The trip was uneventful, the weather was great, and the roads were bare and dry. By dinnertime, the house was filled with kids, grandkids and great-grandson, so I did what any loving Grandma/Mom would do....ordered pizza. Actually, my daughter Amy, and son Scott treated the entire family to the pizza fest.

I'm exhausted, after a ten hour drive yesterday, and an eight hour drive today. Annie and Otto are already sound asleep. I said I wasn't going to let them sleep in the bed any more, since they did so well on the floor in Arizona, but I caved. They were so happy to get home, the first place they checked out was the bed! I don't have the heart to move them now.

Granddaughter Alicyn wasn't a bit shy when she saw us. She was happy Gamma and Gampa were back from "Zara-ona".

I had some Harvest Monday photos to share with you today, but I really need to get to bed. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully all internet connection woes are a thing of the past. I want all of you to know that I read and appreciated all of your comments, even though I wasn't able to respond to them directly. Thanks to my daughter Amy for publishing them for me, and for calling me to read them over the phone each day. She's a good girl :-)

  9. You are a grandmother after my own heart, ordering in pizza. Welcome back! Your description sounds like a return to heaven, and I'm glad for you. Now, if you can just get some of this beautiful weather we're having, I can almost hear the long happy sighs.

  10. Lissa, Heidi, Alison, Sue, Sharon, Mr. H., Barbie and Dianefaith, good morning all! I had a good night's sleep, ready to get to work today unloading, unpacking, and trying to remember where things go in the WA house! It was soooooo nice to get up to a morning paper with my coffee, and and immediate and fast internet connection. I still have grocery shopping to attend to, and must wash my bedding and give the dogs a bath! They snuggled with me last night, but they smelled awfully doggy....whew!

Daphne, the bean seeds look good, but some of them have turned brownish. I'll sort out the pretty ones and send them, I wonder if the brownish ones were those that weren't quite dry when I picked them. I imagine you're still under snow and in no hurry to get them planted ;-)

  11. Oh yeah - Granny is home! Yippee! I don't know if anyone is more excited than me! I so need inspiration (and learning!) for my spring and summer gardens.

I'm reading - everyday, Granny! My gardens await...(and boy do they need help)

(Farmer is jumping up and down! Shouting, "Granny is home!")

  15. Farmer, you have to be my most enthusiastic follower! It might take me a few days to get back into the groove, but we'll be discussing gardening before you know it. Hang in there, baby ;-)

Ginny, too late. I gave them a bath today and washed my bedding, so we're smellin' good for a while! If they are going to sleep with me, they're going to have to bathe every sheet washing day.

Robin and Rachel, I'm well rested today, dogs are bathed, laundry is almost done, and I'll be heading out for groceries soon. I figure I'll be back in the groove by Friday, if not sooner.

  18. Nartaya, Erin, Bethany & Vic, thanks for the welcome back! I'm very, VERY happy to be home. My garden is a mess, but it looks good to me, anyway. I can't hardly wait to get out there and begin the cleanup....but it's raining now.
