July 4, 2011 - Where's Otto?

We can usually find Annie right here.....

But, where's Otto?

  1. Cute pictures. I have a grandson who does that (both the Otto thing AND the Annie thing). Did you crochet the green/white afghan?

  2. Dianefaith, I have two left thumbs when it comes to crocheting, and knitting is just too advanced for my brain. When we bought our Arizona place, the next door neighbor made that afghan for us. We had left a spare key at her house, and when we went down that winter and opened the door, there was the afghan, on the sofa. I love it almost as much as I loved her. About five years ago, at the age of 80-something, she ran off and married a preacher and they moved to Lake Havasu City!

  3. Love this post! Also, the neighbor that ran off with a preacher. I guess when you get to be that age, there's not really much reason to play hard to get?? Got a kick out of both!

  4. Lori, she's not only young at heart, she looks YEARS younger than I, and I know she must be pushing 90 by now, maybe older. Her youngest son lives in the old place, and he's 62! Yes, she eloped and not even her closest friends knew about it until afterward.

  5. Love the pics! Did Otto get himself into those poses or did he have some playful help? :)

  6. Peggy, that's all Otto, no help from his humans! That last one was last night as I was going to bed. He had his hind legs on my pillow! I had another really funny one about a month ago, but I accidentally deleted it from my camera. We keep the seat cushions of the sofa covered with a brown blanket. I couldn't find Otto, but finally noticed a big lump in the sofa. He had pushed his way under the blanket, without pulling it loose. I grabbed the camera...then deleted the harvest pictures along with the photo of Otto :-(

I have to move their footstool (jump stool) from beside the bed during the day, or he'll be snuggled deep ( like picture #6), without hardly messing up the bed, and stay there most of the day. Sometimes I'd find him under my pillow :-)

  7. Too cute! At least Otto usually leaves something sticking out or a big bump in the bed! Miss Banana hides under the down comforter at the end of the bed in the winter and you can't tell she is there. I almost put a heavy suitcase on her one time!

  8. My doxie is just like Otto. If there is a blanket, jacket or towel within her "reach' she will bury herself in it. She has even tried to burrow into a pillowcase if she gets the chance. Doxies are so full of personality. :-)

  9. Robin, my problem with Otto and Annie is the dark brown throw rug in the kitchen. They blend in, and then I step on them.

Dan, they are a delight. I adore them :-)

Lynn, my two keep me laughing!

  10. LOL on the feet sticking out and nothing else. Now I'm not such a sweet person like you---I'd have to grab those feet and scare the daylights out of Otto.

  11. Funny how they have their own tastes!

  12. LOL! Otto seems to have a thing for cuddling in blankets. Love the one with his feet on your pillow.

  14. Such a large bed for little Otto...he is probably hiding from the fireworks noise.

  15. Loved your photos. Very cute. Though I thought you were going to do it from a garden perspective. What is it it about being covered that his likes?

  16. Sue, I wouldn't do that to my sweet little guy! He's such a funny, gentle little dog, his sister is the Alpha sibling. He's just a lover.

Ribbit, they both find something to wrap in or hide under to sleep, though. Their personalities are different, but in many of their mannerisms they are like two peas in a pod.

Rachel & Erin, that picture was the reason for the post. It just looked so funny when I went to get into bed, I had to tiptoe back out for the camera. He was so completely zonked out, he didn't move a muscle when I took the picture.

Mr. H., they weren't thrilled with the fireworks, but they were tolerant. We had a house full of people (17 of us), with noisy teenagers and fussy babies, so they kind of kept out of the line of fire all evening.

Marcia, you never know what to expect on my blog. It's as much about family as it is about gardening! I think being under covers like that is just a trait of dachshunds. I don't care if it's 100 degrees, these dogs will still wrap up in or burrow under the blankets.

  17. Oh isn't he a cutie! Makes me miss the doxies we had when I was a kid. Both of ours liked being under the covers too!

  18. That has the makings of a best selling childrens book, "Where's Otto" I can see it selling millions!

  19. Zentmrs, it seems like most doxies love being bundled in or under something. Mine are also fascinated with feet!

Matron, that could be a cute book :-D
