  1. Good for you for doing your civic duty! Every American should. I love your butternut squash header! It's great!

    1. LOL, Nutmeg....If you don't have pumpkins, decorate with butternut squash! I probably should have used the ripe ones, as they were closer to the correct color. These were my last five from the garden.

    2. Those are cute. I should have done that to my butternut squash that line my steps to my door.

    3. Thanks, Daphne. I had them sitting on the counter hoping they'd ripen a bit more, when my daughter dropped by. She's the talented one, so I handed her a Sharpie and told her to start making faces on them. I think I like "The Scream" the best, with the goofy one second. It doesn't show well in the photo, but the stem on the funny one looks like a propeller, so we put a beanie on his head.

    1. Peggi, our entire state went to mail in voting. The only problem with that is the ballots have to be postmarked by Nov. 6, which means the results will be in long before Washington counts all their ballots!

  3. Whoohoo! Joel and I were going over the questions on the ballot today. I think we will vote the same on two and different on one. Tomorrow I've got to figure out the little guys on the ballot.

    1. I think Jack and I only canceled each other out on one. Well, actually not a cancel, he abstained from voting for governor, as he didn't like either choice, so my vote counted. We usually try to do them together, so that we don't just cancel each other out completely.

    1. Gardener on Sherlock, I hope everybody else gets a chance to go to the polls on or before November 6. Boo to Hurricane Sandy!

  6. OMG, I just posted something similar to you!!! Great minds! We just got back from voting and a nice dinner out. It's SO nice to vote early and be done with it and not have to worry about the crowds on election day. Plus it's a great feeling isn't it? 2nd Man and I almost always vote the same as each other.

    1. Good for you and 2nd. Man! We get to sit at our kitchen table and take our time studying the voter's pamphlet, then fill out our ballots and drive them up the street to the nearest ballot drop box. It couldn't be any easier. Mr. Granny always kids that he has to vote for my selections or I'll stop cooking for him. I'm actually the one in the family who takes a greater interest in politics, and he trusts my judgement in most cases.

  7. Oregon has mail in ballots too. Best thing since sliced bread! Got our votes in early after spending a few hours in the evening reading over all the info and waiting for our shows to start, it was nice to do it at home. The only downside is that you have to have a stamp to mail it in... you'd think that votes would be postage paid? I find it odd that they aren't. I guess if you're out of stamps you don't get to vote.

    1. Anywhere, I agree and think they should have postage paid enclosed envelopes. We have locked ballot drop boxes in several locations around town, but I'm sure there are some who have no transportation to get to those. I think if the postage was already stamped, many more ballots would be returned. I do really like filling out the ballots at home, where we can take our time and read and discuss. I'm sure, in the past, I have been rushed and have voted for somebody because I liked the sound of their name but knew nothing about that particular candidate!
