January 11, 2011 - Adios, Amigos.....Again

It's 1-11-11! Maybe I should have waited until 11 tonight to write this, but.........

I'm going to bed really early tonight, and getting up at 5:00 in the morning to head for Mexico for one last (I hope) dental appointment. I'm not an early riser by nature. I've set the alarm clock, but I know that after midnight I'll awaken every hour on the hour to look at the clock. I could have had a later appointment, but after what happened last week, I'm not taking the chance I'd be driving home late at night. My friend Marge is going with me, so if we get out of Mexico early enough, and if we aren't suffering from sore mouths, we plan on hitting the casino for their excellent buffet. I've been eating light and healthy all week. I'm eating carefully measured servings of whole grains, fruits and veggies, with small amounts of chicken, fish or extra lean beef. I've only gained a pound. Yes, gained. Tomorrow I'm going to pig out.

Adios amigos,
Granny

  1. I feel your pain. I've been eating better this week and I started exercising again. I've gained a pound and a half. I hope that it's just water weight or something. If not, I might as well be on an all-you-can-eat doughnut diet.

Good luck at the dentist! (I LOATHE going to the dentist!)

  2. You should pig out and see if you lose instead :O)

Good luck at the dentist. If he/she gets to close to a nerve, throw'em a right!

  4. An "all you can eat doughnut diet" sounds good. I think it might catch on! Just for good measure, I could drink lots of iced tea or ice water. You know, because I'm on a health food kick!!

  5. It's muscle. The extra weight is muscle. Keep saying that. Kudos to you, Granny, for sticking to your diet plan. You deserve a treat at the casino.

I loathe the dentist too. Good luck. I hope you get some sleep.

  7. I quit my diet on day 10, after I had gained 2 pounds. And of course, the Mister ate his fool head off, and GUESS WHAT????
What is it with that? My neighbor was over yesterday, and she gained on her diet too. I swear , it's gotta be SOMETHING in the food.....
Have fun tomorrow, win big, and eat bigger!
    :D

  8. Have a good time in Mexico and don't get in to any trouble!

Ha..you've gained weight! The only way I can loose is if I cut out the carbs and eat protein and veggies. I tried following Weight Watchers program one time and gained weight!

I think that we all need to get out in the garden and get some exercise!! Come on warm weather!!

  9. Good luck with your trip! That is SO frustrating to have been so good and still gain! Sometimes though, your system gets shocked, and just holds on to whatever it can. Enjoy your buffet!

  10. Happy trip. Talk about diet..., I am one of the lucky (or unlucky?) ones not to have weight fluctuations regardless of the type and quantity of food I consume.

  11. I quit weighing myself several years ago - I go by how the clothes are fitting. At the moment they are too snug! :D Getting back into my noon walking though and I can tell it is doing it's magic.

Hope the trip to Mexico for dental works goes well for you!

  14. To all:

I'm back, not too much pain today, but my mouth is a bit tender. The casino was too crowded (as was Los Algodones) today, so we opted for the Golden Corral buffet in Yuma, and I ate my fill of soft foods. Having had a permanent bridge cemented into my mouth just an hour prior to eating, I wasn't quite ready to chomp down on anything tougher than meatloaf! One more trip, next week, so she can check everything out, do some minor work on my lower teeth and make sure my bite is correct, then I'll be through dentisting...I hope!

To the dieters...I may not show a loss for the week, but I didn't have to dance to get into my jeans this morning. I've found, in the past, I'll plateau or gain, then suddenly drop 3-4 pounds at once. I don't get discouraged, 'cause I know if I eat right, it will happen.

  16. Sinfonian, I read your last post on my reader, but when I tried to go there, it was suspended! Why don't you try using Blogger? I've been quite happy with it for 2 1/2 years.

I lost your email address when I reformatted last winter. If you read this, please send me an email to anniebloom1 at gmail dot com

  18. I came out of hibernation just to check on you! heh

I'm glad you made it back safely ! I've been to those buffets at the casinos in Las Vegas... man oh man! There's enough food there to feed a small country! But I love Golden Corral too.. their salads are some of the best around here (restaurant style anyways!)

    Hugs to you!!
