May 1, 2009: I am Honored

This morning I was honored to receive this blog award from one of my favorite blogs, Daphne's Dandelions. Thank you, Daphne! I will pass it on to some of the great bloggers that I follow. It will be difficult narrowing it down to five, as I love them all. I won't include Dan's Urban Vegetable Garden Blog or EG's Engineered Garden, as Daphne has already honored them.

Here are five of the many blogs I feel are deserving of this award. If you wish, you may pick this award up from my blog and display it on yours, and be sure to pass it on to up to five of your favorites if you would like.

Cheryl's Garden Goodies

Daisy's Kitchen Garden

Gamine's Garden

Liisa's Garden Journey

The Gumshoe Gardener

And last, but far from least, my very favorite blog of all time (you MUST visit this one!)

The Corner Yard

Oh, was that six? I'm sorry, I wasn't counting.

There are so many others that I feel are deserving of this award, I wish I could pass it on to all of you.

Hi Annie's Granny, Congratulations on winning the award! You may remember me from last year (Sept 23rd 2008 to be precise) when I asked you what to do with all the pine needles that shed during fall. Your suggesiton of turning them into mulch has worked very well indeed, for my azaleas. This spring, I had gorgeous blossoms from a variety of azalea shrubs that had been surrounded by pine needles last fall. Honestly, they never bloomed or looked this healthy before. I am mulling over your other suggestion of planting strawberries and blueberries this spring as well, to use up the rest of the pine needles. Thanks!

  14. thewannabegardener, YES! I remember you! I'm so happy the pine needles worked out well for you. I had planned on using mine for mulch too, and had my son-in-law do our pine needle cleanup before we came back north from Arizona. Unfortunately, there was so much winter trash, pine cones, branches and general yuk, we ended up taking them to the dump :-( Luckily, my neighbor did save her leaves for me, so at least I got a decent start at a compost pile. If I ever spend a winter here at home, I'll be sure to get those pine needles before they are unmanageable! There is still some hope for this year...there are a lot of needles wedged up on the patio roof, and they must come down. They would be usable as mulch!
