May 20, 2009: Blog Hogging

Two posts in one day! I feel rather talkative, and I did take some pictures (besides tomatoes) I wanted to share.

Can you believe how these potatoes have grown in the six days since I blogged about them? Gosh, was that really six days ago? It seems like just two or three!

Another one of my rhododendrons is in full boom. I think it's my favorite of the two I have.

Grandbaby Alicyn is 7 months old today!

  1. That's right. Throw your pretty potatoes in my face. ;> Mine are so tiny right now.

  2. Daphne, if throw my pretty potatoes in your face, does that make you a potato head?

I'm sure yours will be pretty about the time mine get attacked by potato beetles and become all wilty and spindly and floppy.

  5. Thanks, Ribbit...don't you just love her eyes? That's the first thing people notice about her. If she ever gets hair, she'll be gorgeous!

  7. Your potato plants look wonderful!

Can't wait for my Yukon golds to poke thru the soil!

  8. Toni, the smaller ones at the back of that bed are Yukon Gold, and it took them more than a month to poke through the soil. You didn't get yours in until May 16th, so it will probably be a while before you see any growth. But once they start, watch them take off!

  9. I know I should say something about the luxuriant growth of your potatoes, but I do have to say what beautiful eyes your grand-baby has.

We've had showers and sunshine here, so everything is coming on apace, just like your potatoes - no grandchildren to show off here though!

  10. I'm always amazed how slow the Yukons are in coming up......
Yours are looking fantastic. I hope mine will look as good!
    Have a great day!

  11. lol I hope not. Though Mr. Potato head is kinda cute I guess. I think it would just put dents in my head. I hope mine will be looking like yours do soon. They are pushing a lot of foliage up. All I can think is that I'm going to be burying them for quite a while before they can get pretty.

  12. Heskie, her eyes are beautiful, aren't they? She's a little handful, though :-D

Sue, I think I'll at least double my potato planting space next year. I love taking pictures of all that GREEN and flaunting them on my blog, LOL!

Daphne, I probably should have added another layer of soil over mine, but I'm having to buy bagged compost/soil to fill these last few beds and it's getting $$$. This should be my last gardening season to have to rely on purchased soils....unless I decide on another expansion ;-) I think, in the end, the raised/enclosed beds will be worth it in their ease of maintenance.

  13. Well, I have no potatoes, and my youngest child is not yet four. Seems neither potatoes nor grandchildren are to come soon in my future!!

  14. LOL, Stefaneener, Your time will come. With grandchildren, I mean...I don't know about potatoes.

  15. My potatoes did the same thing. Two days and PRESTO. Who knew?!

Ok, I think your grandbaby is adorable, but I just had to say those eyes and the lack of hair reminded me of Golem. Don't tell her I said that when she grows up... I'm sure she'll be a charmer!

  16. Sinfonian, BITE YOUR TONGUE! Golem is ugly with a capital U. I think my Alicyn is pretty, and I love her eyes.

  18. Your granddaughter has the prettiest blue eyes that I've ever seen!

  19. You've got a little modle in the making. Just look at how she's working with the camera.

  20. Cheryl, she's not nearly as photogenic as her sister. We have to pick and chose from Alicyn's photos, whereas Alicia never had a bad baby picture.

  21. What a cute little grandbaby!... potatoes are nice too but not quite as adorable. ;^)

  22. Wow, those potatoes do grow fast when they get going. I'm glad I'm not the only one with slow Yukons. For early potatoes, they're taking their sweet time!

  23. Alicyn is gorgeous!

Oh, and your potatoes aren't bad either. :P
