Tuesday night Mr. Granny and I met some old friends for dinner. Even though we live in the same town, and were good friends for many years, we hadn't seen each other in more than twenty years! It's odd how people who were once close can grow so far apart, but when we retired we downsized. We moved from the large house on the hill to the small house in town. When our friends retired, they moved up to a large house on the hill from a small house in town. For some reason, our paths never again crossed until Mary Jane ran into our daughter and got our phone number from her. She called, we made the dinner date, and the old friends of the past spent a delightful three-plus hours together, remembering the old and catching up with the new.
Today I met another dear friend for lunch. We hadn't been separated for twenty years. In fact, we had never before met in person. She did, however, become a dear friend via her blog, The Modern Victory Garden. Laura is even nicer in person, and we had such a pleasant visit, I'm looking forward to many more meetings with her. Even if we did both forget about the dozen fresh eggs she brought as a gift for me. I told her to bring me two dozen the next time, to make up for it....LOL!
So cool to meet up with friends, both new and old. I love Laura's blog, I read it too. Glad to hear she's nice, and that you had a great visit.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to meet old friends and new ones. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how we lose track of people. Glad you could "re-connect". It sounds like you had a good time.

Awesome! So cool to meet up with old friends and new.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been so wonderful. Meeting old friends is great. Occasionally I get a chance to see my old friends when I travel. I've yet to meet up with any blogging friends though. And there are so many people who blog in New England.
ReplyDeleteWhen you meet someone in person who you only know through their writing, you wonder if they are anything at all like the person you have imagined them to be. When we met up for lunch, it was like we just picked up from a long previous conversation and you are every bit what I expected you to be - delightfully funny, energetic, and willing to share your wealth of information and experience! I am so glad we were able to meet up and spend some time together talking and laughing. :)
ReplyDeleteNext time maybe I will manage to remember to hand over the eggs I bring you. ;)
Spending time with friends both old and new can be some of the best times!
ReplyDeleteOld friends are the best and its wonderful meeting people who you have gotten to know so well via blogging you would think that you have been lifelong friends.
