Garden Pest #1

Garden Pest #2

  1. LOL! Not what I expected. I was thinking pests as in bugs, slugs, maybe even birds. How cute!

  2. Rachel, I have those pests, too! I just couldn't catch them on video ;-)

Erin, my pest #1 went from digging holes to standing in a bean patch today. He's also trying to tunnel under the back fence to visit (attack) those nasty little dogs that live behind us.

  3. Well Granny, pest #1 is just trying to garden!

  4. Pest #1- now that's what I call persistence.

Pest #2- how could you say no to that face???!

  5. Robin, pest #1, AKA Otto, was later shot (with camera, not gun) standing in a bush bean bed. Pest #1 is going to get himself banned from the garden!

Thomas, #1 Pest Otto is about the most persistent little cuss ever created! If you haven't yet seen it, do watch an earlier video of him trying to bury a bone in my bed. THAT is persistence!

  6. Thomas, I forgot to add that pest #2 is no longer welcome to visit in my house. From now on he only visits in the yard. He has learned to use our pet door, and on his last two visits he pooped on my floors (kitchen and bedroom). Now the block goes in the pet door, and Bandit plays with Otto outside. Annie tolerates him, but won't play with him.

  7. LOL! Otto is digging to China! What the heck is he going after anyways? The next door pup is so pitiful and cute, but honestly that whining would drive me batty in no time.

  8. Kitsap, I'm not sure, but he is usually only interested in worms or roots. Since he didn't roll in it after he dug it up, I assume it was a root!

You are me ;-) I love that pup next door, but the whining and crying interrupts my quiet time in the garden. Either I don't stay out long when he's outside, or I open the gate and let him come play with Annie and Otto.

  9. One of my dogs has been eating my tomatoes before I can get them off the bush. I don't have that many this year. Crazy dogs!

  10. Peggi, last year Annie occasionally pulled carrots from the garden and ate them. She would just pull one or two, never wasting them. Both dogs would accompany me to the bean patch and beg for raw green beans. They just love them, both raw and cooked. I tried giving them cooked summer squash, and they just spit that out!

  11. Otto is so intent! I could take a lesson from him in *dogged* persistence (just realized where that word probably came from).

But the other one would drive me nuts with the whining. That video made me so happy I have cats, who stare at me silently while I garden. Will his owner take him inside sometimes to give you some peace and quiet? Pest indeed.

  12. Meredith, Pat does keep Bandit in the house quite a bit. I try to time my garden visits for when he's not out in his yard, as the constant crying does get on my nerves. He only cries when I'm out there. I do prefer him over a cat though....he doesn't use my garden as a litter box.
