How could I do my Saturday garden post and forget to show my first garden flowers? The pansies in the blue pot are blooming now. I was surprised they wintered over in such a shallow container.
Cheryl, I've always pulled mine, too. However, we left while they were still blooming last fall, and I didn't get them pulled out. I was really surprised to see them growing when we returned, so I gave them some water and fertilizer and..there they are! I planted your Spicy Globe basil in the four empty compartments today.
I meant to also say...when they get lanky, just whack them back and I think they bush out and bloom again. I'm not much of an authority on flowers, having always felt I was contributing more to the family by growing veggies. I do love them, though.
Bethany, remember when I thought it was ugly? Right after I painted it? Plants soften the color a lot...now I love it, and I've painted two more in the same color!
The pansies are pretty. I didn't know they could winter over. I always threw them out after they got too leggy in the summer.

ReplyDeleteGranny I just love that planter. It's going to be so beautiful when everything is big!
