September 1, 2013 - Fifty-One Years?

That's how long I've put up with Mr. Granny!  Hard to believe, isn't it.  Of course, if he were half as difficult as I let on in this blog, I'd never have kept him around for such a long time.  I think you all suspect he's actually a pretty nice guy, and you would be correct.  So....we'll be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our 51st. wedding anniversary.  But I'll bet anything we'll have to work it in between ballgames!

    1. Haha! Flat top and DA (duck ass) hairdos were "in" back then, Sue! As were "shackled pants" (pants worn very low, just like we complain about on the boys today). I should show you my graduation picture, with my "poodle cut" hairdo.

    2. Oh gosh, please do! I love to get these "peeks" at the early life of a grand champion gardener. Any photos of your FIRST garden?

    3. No pictures of my first garden. Cameras hadn't yet been invented back then. Hahahahaha!

The first garden I took pictures of, around 1981, is here:

That's my oldest daughter standing in the corn. That garden was really big, much bigger than it looks in the photo.

I'll try to remember to post the poodle cut, just for you :-)

  5. Congratulations! Being together for 51 years is a great achievement by any standard, and is very rare these days, in which people seem so reluctant to give one another any deep committment. We are just coming up to 36, so we have a way to go still...!

    4. Hey, 51st anniversary must have come with a lot of compromise and communication, a lot of give and take. For that reason, Mr. Granny is my role model, too! You are such a cute couple, love that flat top on Mr. Granny. Didn't know about duck ass, though, or poodle cut!

    5. Hang on to your hat, Mrs. R. Sue has talked me into a poodle cut post, and I got carried away with scanning old photos. I'll be boring you all to death with Tuesday's blog post :-)

  12. Coming out of 'disconnected mode' this weekend to comment. Wow, 51 years! That's longer than I've been alive (but the same amount of time 2nd Man has been alive, LOL).

While I haven't seen Mr. Granny lately, you look just as pretty as you did then (and I bet he's just as handsome and hopefully has a different hairdo, hahaha).

Happy Anniversary!!!! It's 14 years for 2nd Man and I, we got a late start, but, God willing, we'll be there someday!

    Much love to you both.

    1. Thank you, Nancy! I don't know how many more years we have ahead, but you can bet they will be spent together. It's too late to get rid of the old guy now, so I'll just have to keep him ;-)
