That's how long I've put up with Mr. Granny! Hard to believe, isn't it. Of course, if he were half as difficult as I let on in this blog, I'd never have kept him around for such a long time. I think you all suspect he's actually a pretty nice guy, and you would be correct. So....we'll be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our 51st. wedding anniversary. But I'll bet anything we'll have to work it in between ballgames!
Granny and Mr. Granny
September 1, 1962
Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteHow marvelous. Hope you have a great "date night". And I love the picture. ----but his hair? LOL!
Haha! Flat top and DA (duck ass) hairdos were "in" back then, Sue! As were "shackled pants" (pants worn very low, just like we complain about on the boys today). I should show you my graduation picture, with my "poodle cut" hairdo.
DeleteOh gosh, please do! I love to get these "peeks" at the early life of a grand champion gardener. Any photos of your FIRST garden?
DeleteNo pictures of my first garden. Cameras hadn't yet been invented back then. Hahahahaha!
DeleteThe first garden I took pictures of, around 1981, is here:

That's my oldest daughter standing in the corn. That garden was really big, much bigger than it looks in the photo.
I'll try to remember to post the poodle cut, just for you :-)
Congratulations! 51 years huh? I hope my husband and I are still around for our 51st. We are just at 29 right now. Have a great dinner.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daphne. I hope I'm still around to celebrate your 51st!
DeleteCongratulations to you and Mr Granny!!! What a handsome guy! He sure must be a great guy to keep you for 51 years :)Enjoy your dinner!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Robin, he is. But he doesn't garden, and he hates broccoli.
DeleteHappy Anniversary!! 51 years of married bliss is almost unheard of today. Wishing you many, many, many more!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anke!
DeleteCongratulations! Being together for 51 years is a great achievement by any standard, and is very rare these days, in which people seem so reluctant to give one another any deep committment. We are just coming up to 36, so we have a way to go still...!
ReplyDeleteMark, 36 years years is also an accomplishment in this day and age! Thank you for the well wishes.
DeleteCongrats you too!! have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mrs. P. I spent the entire morning doing fall garden cleanup, so I guess I'm having a great day, LOL!
DeleteCongratulations! Rita and I share the same Sept. 1 anniversary....46 years today for us. And our son and dil have the same 9/1, 12 years for them.
ReplyDeleteWell, happy anniversary to you and Rita! Today is also my sister's birthday, and I forgot to send her a card :-(
DeleteRay, I called my sis to wish her a happy birthday, and found out she and her husband are celebrating their 27th. anniversary today as well! All us "special people' are celebrating today, LOL!
DeleteThat is so incredibly awesome! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa.
DeleteAlways happy to hear of long marriages! Congrats on 51 years.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cristy.
DeleteHappy Congrats!!!!! robbie:-)
ReplyDeleteStaying married is like gardens, you have to water, weed and never quit-lol
I like what Robbie said! Congratulations to you and Mr. Granny! How wonderful and exciting to be celebrating a 51st anniversary. You are my role model, Granny! :-)
DeleteAnd don't forget, you have to feed it well!
DeleteThank you so much, Mrs. R. That I am your role model just blows my mind!
DeleteHey, 51st anniversary must have come with a lot of compromise and communication, a lot of give and take. For that reason, Mr. Granny is my role model, too! You are such a cute couple, love that flat top on Mr. Granny. Didn't know about duck ass, though, or poodle cut!
DeleteHang on to your hat, Mrs. R. Sue has talked me into a poodle cut post, and I got carried away with scanning old photos. I'll be boring you all to death with Tuesday's blog post :-)
DeleteCongratulations Granny and Mr. Granny! Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rachel.
DeleteComing out of 'disconnected mode' this weekend to comment. Wow, 51 years! That's longer than I've been alive (but the same amount of time 2nd Man has been alive, LOL).
ReplyDeleteWhile I haven't seen Mr. Granny lately, you look just as pretty as you did then (and I bet he's just as handsome and hopefully has a different hairdo, hahaha).
Happy Anniversary!!!! It's 14 years for 2nd Man and I, we got a late start, but, God willing, we'll be there someday!
Much love to you both.
You are so sweet, 1st. Man. You always put a big smile on my face :-D
DeleteCongratulations and have a Happy Anniversary and many, many more! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy! I don't know how many more years we have ahead, but you can bet they will be spent together. It's too late to get rid of the old guy now, so I'll just have to keep him ;-)
DeleteCongratulations! Hope you had a wonderful dinner and celebration. Can hardly wait to see the pics. :)
ReplyDeletePeggi, any time someone else does the cooking it's a wonderful time, even when the dinner isn't up to par. Last night the dinner was good!
DeleteWow! Congrats!! You make such a handsome couple!! Keep rocking :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Random!
DeleteHappy Anniversary and congratulations on such an amazing milestone! Your wedding photo is absolutely gorgeous. Here's to 50 more years!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Follain Farm. Another fifty years? I'd be happy with another 20, LOL!
DeleteWOW, 51 years! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteLangela, I dare you and Mr. Farmer to match it!
