October 18, 2009: First Day on the Road

Weather was beautiful for the first leg of the trip south. We left home at 4:30 this morning, arrived in Jackpot, NV at noon. Our "pet room" wasn't ready, and we had to wait three hours to get in. I'm getting WIFI in the room, but only if I set the laptop right next to the window. That's OK, at this point I'll take whatever I can get.

We're off to dinner now, I hope to blog more later this evening....at least answer some of the many comments that have been left for me!

  1. Excellent. Glad to hear things are going well. I baked your pumpkin pie recipe today. The time didn't work out and mine got a bit on the toasted side, but they're still scrumptious.

  2. Ah, there's nothing like having to stay in a hotel. I hope y'all have a nice room!

  3. Ribbit, That recipe is from the Libby's Pumpkin can, so blame Libby if it didn't turn out ;-)

EG, the pet rooms aren't fancy, but they are spacious and clean. The rooms over at the hotel are gorgeous, but no dogs allowed. At least they left us a big plate of cookies and two glasses of ice cold milk! Annie got a dramamine tablet before we left this morning, but I should have given her another one at about four hours. She barfed all over at about six hours into the trip. It's so fun traveling with dogs!

  4. I'm so sorry traveling seems rough on Annie. We always have the "Oh boy oh boy the car!" kind of dogs, so the only trouble was making certain that they had enough exercise. Road trips. . . those were the days!

Take good care and enjoy your comments.

  5. Stefaneener, as carsick as Annie gets, she's still the first one out to the car, and very vocal about her desire to go! Once in the car, she curls up in a corner and stays that way throughout the entire trip. She only gets up to barf :-(

LOL, right now she's cuddled up on the bed, and Otto is deep down under the covers. Perfectly content now that we're back from dinner.

  6. Glade to hear your trip is going well. Good luck with the rest of your travels. Can't wait to see all your spiky plants and rocks/sand in AZ! By the way I'll have a photo up of my Purple pepper harvest on my Harvest Monday post.

  7. Dan, I only got 2 purple peppers from my two plants. I don't think I'll be trying them again! My neighbor took them to her house, maybe she can get them to bloom inside.
