April 10, 2012 - Getting Back in the Groove (part one of two posts)

Give Granny three days off and she'll try to take a month....really! No, I promise I won't stay away that long, but sometimes it's hard to get back into the blogging mood when one is away from it for a few days. Today I have so much to share with you, I'll break it down into two posts, family and garden.

Family

Sunday was Mr. Granny's 77th. birthday, so I had the family here for dinner. Our youngest daughter quipped that her father was so old, they dedicated a religious holiday to him!

There were 16 of us consuming a dinner of baked ham, scalloped potatoes, baked beans, tossed salad, pasta salad, Alicyn's special deviled Easter eggs, birthday cake and ice cream.

The weather was warm and sunny so the two little ones, Remington and Alicyn, played outside all day. At one point, both of them had to be retrieved from the garden manure pile, where they were happily shoveling it into the buckets.

The teenagers always seem to disappear to a bedroom or the TV room, only to reappear when food is served.

At the end of the day, I was tired but happy. I swear I didn't touch a drop of that booze on the counter, I just look loopy! And my kitchen isn't yellow :-)

  1. I want to wish Mr. Granny a late Happy Birthday. I spent Easter Morning with my mom - She turned 53 on Sunday. It was a great way to start Easter. Then we dropped dear Hubby off at the airport. I hate it when he leaves on a holiday.

I think you need to put the little ones to work in the garden! Alex always tries to help with the compost. He is two so it can take a REALLY long time to fill a bucket but it is one of my favorite things to do. All of the work can wait. Dallas (8 y/o) runs and hides when I start the yard work. I guess it just comes with age.

    1. Thank you from Mr. Granny to Christy!

Alicyn bought some garden gloves so she could help me in the garden. I have a small bucket, so she will be carrying compost for me. She's only three, but she did it last year when she was two, and she's a hard worker! She'll visit one day this week, so we'll hope for good gardening weather.

  3. Well Happy Birthday Mr. Granny! Wow, Alicyn is getting so big, she has that "little girl face" instead of the baby face now :) I was starting to wonder if my feed had dropped you - we usually don't go a whole 3 days without a post from you unless you are in AZ LOL!
